February 2011:  the NADAC breed rankings have been posted for 2010, and Brodes and Berlin are the #1 and #2 Rottweilers in NADAC, for points earned in Elite Tunnelers.  In fact, they are the only Rottweilers to have accumulated 30 or more Elite points in any category.  They had both placed in 2008, then there were no Rottweilers listed in 2009, and now they are at the top in 2010, at 7 years of age.  Awesome!

Reschaven Rottweilers

Kelly Dygert & a VomReschaven Rottweiler in Agility competitionReschaven Rottweilers is a small hobby kennel located in North Pole, Alaska, near Fairbanks.  My interest in Rottweilers started in 1989 with the purchase of an 8-month old female, whose pedigree surprisingly included some famous dogs who were pictured in Muriel Freeman’s book  The Complete Rottweiler.  With this female, “Exis”, I joined the local Tanana Valley Kennel Club, learned about training in tracking, obedience and conformation, and started my breeding program.  I had the opportunity to travel to some large conformation shows, both German and AKC, and I decided whereas I prefer the German style of showing and the high drives of the German Rottweilers, realistically, in my area, there would be more opportunities with AKC activities.  I set about to develop a breeding program that would always focus on performance, whether that be obedience, agility, herding, tracking, or possibly Schutzhund.  Through the years my dogs have earned many titles, as I have learned how to train them in many different performance areas.  I sometimes think of them as my “big black and brown Border Collies”  because they are always so eager to go and do things with me…..lets go training!
